How do I find new podcasts?

Follow guests and trusted hosts rather than charts, sample by episode and give a new show a fair try.

Follow people rather than charts. The best recommendations usually come from a guest you liked, a host you trust or a friend with good taste.

Discovery tactics

  • Follow the guest. When a guest is great, search their name to find other shows they’ve appeared on.
  • Sample by episode. Don’t start at episode one. Pick a recent episode on a topic you care about.
  • Ask about one episode. Ask friends for a single favorite episode, not a whole show.
  • Browse by topic. Search your app for a subject rather than a genre.
  • Listen to the trailers. Many shows have a short intro episode.

Give it a fair try

Listen to two or three episodes before deciding. First episodes are often the roughest. But if a show doesn’t grab you, drop it. There are always more.

Keep a list

Note episodes you loved and why. It helps you spot what you like and gives you picks for your club.

Then start a listening club to share what you find, or read the listening club guide.
